Honey Directive and Honey Regulations

Selling Honey

When selling honey you need to be aware of some important pieces of legislation; the Honey Directive 2001 and the Honey Regulations 2015, together with the Guidelines on Honey Regulation.

These define the characteristics and requirements of honey prepared for sale for human consumption.

Further advice on Food Safety and Food Law can be found on the Food Standards Agency website, including information about importing honey from outside of Europe.
